American Capital, Limited Formerly known as American Capital Strategies, Ltd.. The Group's principal activity is to provide investment capital to middle market companies. The Group invests in senior and mezzanine (subordinated) debt and equity of companies in need of capital for buyouts, growth, acquisitions and recapitalizations. The Group is a non-diversified closed end investment company. The Group operates in two segments: Investment portfolio and Alternative asset management business. The Investment portfolio segment invests in a broad range of industries and limiting the amount of our investment concentration in any one portfolio company. The Alternative asset management business segment provides alternative asset management services to third party funds through research and due diligence to identify industry and geographic sectors of alternative assets that have attractive investment attributes.
