The Group securitizes most of the adjustable-rate mortgage, or ARM, loans to hold substantially all of the securities resulting from these securitizations, to service those loans underlying its securities and to sell the fixed-rate mortgage loans that they originate. The Group sells a broad array of home mortgage products through a nationwide network of retail loan production offices as well as through wholesale and Internet mortgage lending operations. The Group's mortgage banking operation also services the loans underlying the securities they retain for investment as well as certain of the loans they sell to third-party purchasers.
