Anworth Mortgage Asset Corporation. The Group's principal activity is that of a mortgage Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT). It purchases and manages investment portfolio. The Group is an Investment Company within the meaning of section 856. The operations include investing in mortgage assets including mortgage pass-through certificates, collateralized mortgage obligations and other real estate securities. The investment portfolio of the Group consist primarily adjustable-rate agency mortgage-backed securities. The Group generates income for distribution to shareholders primarily based on the difference between the yield on its mortgage assets and the cost of its borrowings. The Group is elected to be taxed as a real estate investment trust under the United States Internal Revenue Code of 1986 Code.
