The Group's principal activity is that of a global specialty retailer operating retail, outlet and online stores selling casual apparel, accessories and personal care products for men, women and children. These products are marketed under the Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy and Piperlime brand names. As on 31-Jan-2009, the Group operates 3,149 stores in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Ireland and Japan. In addition, the Group intends to expand its international presence with franchise agreements to operate either Gap or Gap and Banana Republic stores in Bahrain, Indonesia, Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey and United Arab Emirates.
