J. Crew Group, Inc.. The Group's principal activities are designing, marketing and distributing women's and men's apparel, shoes and accessories. The products of the Group include business attire, weekend clothes, swimwear, loungewear, outerwear, wedding and special occasion attire, shoes, bags, belts and jewelry. The products are sold under the brand name J. Crew. The Group conduct its business through two primary sales channels: Stores, which consists of its retail and factory stores, and Direct, which consists of the J.Crew catalog and the Internet website. The customer base of the Group consists primarily of affluent, college-educated and professional. As of January 31, 2009, the Company operated 226 retail stores, including five crewcuts, one Men's store, one Women's Collection store, and 10 Madewell stores; and 74 factory stores, including one crewcuts factory store, throughout the United States.
