Marvel Entertainment, Inc.. The Group's principal activities are to license comic characters, publish comic books and develop and market toys. It is a character-based entertainment companies, with a proprietary library of over 5,000 characters. The Group's operations are carried out through three business segments: Licensing segment, Publishing segment and Toy segment. Toy Biz designs, develops, markets and distributes a limited line of toys to the worldwide marketplace. Toy Biz's products are based upon movies and television shows featuring Spider-Man and produced by Sony Pictures and upon the movie trilogy Lord of the Rings. Licensing division licenses the Company's characters for use in a wide variety of products, including toys, electronic games, apparel, accessories, footwear, collectibles and novelties. Publishing division of the Group publishes comic books.
