Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri AS. The Group's principal activity is providing mobile telecommunications services.It operates in two main segments: Telecommunications and Betting. The Group offers mobile audio and data services over its Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) network. Its services are tailored for both individual and corporate customers, and marketed under such brands as gnctrkcell and IsTcell. As of February 17, 2009, Turkcell signed contracts with 609 operators in 202 countries for the provision of international services. Additionally, it offers services to its subscribers in 144 countries through General Pocket Radio Service (GPRS) roaming agreements with 363 operators. Subscribers can choose between its postpaid and pre-paid services. As of September 30, 2008, it had approximately 36.3 million post and pre-paid subscribers. The Group has investments in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Ukraine.
