Union Pacific Corporation. The Group's principal activity is to provide rail transportation through its subsidiary Union Pacific Railroad Company. The Group covers 23 states across the western two-thirds of the United States. The railroad freight includes six commodity lines namely agricultural, automotive, chemicals, energy, industrial products and intermodal. The Group also maintains coordinated schedules with other rail carriers for the handling of freight to and from the Atlantic Coast, the Pacific Coast, the Southeast, the Southwest, Canada and Mexico. It offers competitive long-haul routes from all major West Coast and Gulf Coast ports to eastern gateways. As of 31-Dec-2008, it has own 32,012 route miles and operates on 18,695 main line and branch line route miles. The Group operates throughout the United States.
