Washington Federal Incorporated. The Group's principal activity is to provide a wide range of financial services through its 148 full service branches. It attracting savings deposits from the general public and investing these funds in loans secured by first lien mortgages on single-family dwellings, including loans for the construction of dwellings and loans on multi-family dwellings. It conducts its operations through a federally insured savings and loan association subsidiary, Washington Federal Savings and Loan Association. The Group also originates other types of loans for its portfolio and invests in the United States Government and agency obligations. In addition, it provides real estate development and insurance brokerage services. The Group operates through 148 offices in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas. In February 2008, the Group acquired First Mutual Bancshares Inc.
